Senior Manager / Deputy Director, Silicon Photonics Technology Development

Role Summary

Lead and manage the 300mm technology development integration team responsible for process integration of silicon photonic devices from development and customer engagement through production. The role emphasizes technical leadership, cross-functional coordination, and improving technology maturity with attention to quality, cost, and delivery.

Work with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to qualify and scale silicon photonics technologies for manufacturing; may support multiple sites.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include ownership of technology integration, qualification, and ensuring product and process readiness for production.

  • Own process integration and qualification of silicon photonic technologies from development to production.
  • Ensure new technologies meet standardized quality and financial expectations across customer, supplier, and manufacturing interfaces.
  • Manage customer engagements, technology maturity assessments, and IP/technology model protection.
  • Provide tools and perform complex analysis of quality issues and their financial implications.
  • Drive standardization and robustness in global qualification processes; support multiple sites as required.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to prevent costly redesigns and ensure requirements are met for target markets and customers.
  • Maintain compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs and promote safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Proven management experience leading technical teams and programs in a semiconductor or related high-tech environment.
  • Technical understanding of silicon photonics process integration and device behavior.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Track record of cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers.
  • Analytical skills to assess quality issues and associated financial impacts; experience with structured problem solving.
  • Familiarity with qualification processes and standards for scaling technologies to production.
  • English fluency required.
  • Preferred: experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, photonics and CMOS device physics, semiconductor processing, and device characterization.

Education Requirements

PhD or Master’s degree required, with 10+ years of relevant working experience. Acceptable fields: Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics, or other relevant engineering/physical science disciplines. (The posting specifies PhD/Master's plus experience.)
