Senior Lead Design Engineer
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Senior Lead Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior technical lead on SoC front-end design within NXP's MCU/MPU Engineering (MME) organization. Responsible for driving SOC micro-architecture, RTL sign-off, and integration from specification through tape-out and post-silicon debug.
Collaborate with verification, DFT, synthesis and cross-functional teams to deliver production-quality automotive and industrial SoCs that meet safety, security and performance targets.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5β10 years of IP/SoC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading SoC design, integration and production readiness.
- Lead SOC debug, micro-architecture definition and system integration from specification through tape-out and post-silicon support.
- Drive and implement SoC design methodologies and best practices across business lines.
- Approve RTL, timing constraints, CDC/RDC closures and coordinate with verification, DFT, synthesis teams for silicon readiness.
- Document SOC design and micro-architecture for consumption by other SOC functions.
- Provide debug design support for silicon-related issues in post-silicon phases.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 5β10 years of IP/SoC design experience with delivery of production-quality chips.
- Hands-on RTL design and Verilog coding experience for debug logic and IP integration.
- Practical experience across RTL design flow: specification/micro-architecture, IP integration, RTL sign-off, and chip assembly.
- Familiarity with sign-off and static checks: CDC, RDC, lint, synthesis flows and tools.
- Experience with Arm Cortex-M/A/R-based SoC debug infrastructure and debug components (CoreSight, ETM, STM, DAP, CTI, JTAG, SWD, Trace32).
- Strong knowledge of digital design fundamentals: clocking, reset, system modes, interconnect, and debug architectures.
- Effective communicator, team player, and self-motivated to drive issues to closure across cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with bus protocols and peripherals (AXI/ACE/APB/ATB, PCIe, USB, DDR).
- Familiarity with RISC-V microarchitectures and additional serial/multimedia interfaces.
