Role Summary
The Senior Layout Engineer translates schematics into manufacturable layouts for advanced DRAM, working across Design, Process Integration, and CAD teams. The role focuses on floorplanning, implementing, and verifying custom digital, memory, and analog circuits to meet process rules, design intent, and schedule commitments.
Experience Level
Senior level. Preferred 3+ years of semiconductor custom/memory/analog layout experience with demonstrated block or project leadership when available.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include creating and delivering block-level layouts, verification, and improving layout methods and automation.
- Create layout designs from floorplan through final design for critical custom, memory, analog, or standard-cell circuits.
- Perform layout verification tasks (LVS, DRC) and quality checks; improve verification tools and methodologies.
- Develop and codify methods and automation; prototype solutions and produce documentation and SOPs.
- Contribute scripting or automation (e.g., SKILL, Python) to increase productivity and integrate automated layout solutions.
- Coordinate with global partners to meet tapeout/mask deadlines and deliver layouts on schedule.
- Lead layout planning for assigned blocks or sub-projects and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with layout tools and verification flows such as Cadence Virtuoso and Calibre (DRC/LVS).
-
Must-have: Exposure to semiconductor custom, memory, or analog layout and a solid understanding of CMOS processes, design rules, and layout-dependent effects.
-
Must-have: Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and experience working in ambiguous situations.
-
Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (SKILL, Python) and demonstrated experience building methodology/automation.
-
Nice-to-have: DRAM/LPDDR/HBM memory product layout background and prior block/project leadership including mentoring and schedule management.
-
Nice-to-have: Strong collaboration and written documentation skills for global, cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
