Job Title

Senior FPGA / RTL Design Engineer - Signal Processing

Role Summary

Design and implement signal-processing algorithms in FPGA for MIMO wireless networking products. Work on research and development through field deployment as part of the FPGA Engineering team reporting to the Director of FPGA Engineering.

Position is based in West Los Angeles, CA on a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days onsite per week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday).

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires substantial FPGA design experience: minimum 6 years of FPGA design experience (4 years with an MS, 2 years with a PhD) as described in the posting.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include implementation, verification, and support of FPGA-based signal-processing systems.

  • Architect and implement digital designs for wireless communication projects.
  • Design fixed-point signal-processing blocks in collaboration with systems engineers.
  • Write RTL, develop simulations and test benches.
  • Perform FPGA synthesis and timing closure.
  • Hardware verification and troubleshooting; use of logic analyzers and lab equipment.
  • Support RF and software engineering teams and integrate FPGA subsystems.
  • Participate in R&D activities from concept through field demonstrations and deployment.
  • Support field tests and demonstrations, including routine equipment handling.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security and employment conditions, and other non-education criteria.

  • Minimum FPGA design experience as specified by posting (see Experience Level for years guidance).
  • Demonstrated experience with fixed-point binary arithmetic and DSP designs.
  • Proven expertise with multi-clock-domain, high-utilization FPGA designs.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and SoCs and the Vivado IDE.
  • Strong RTL coding, simulation, testbench development, synthesis, and timing-closure skills.
  • Hardware verification and troubleshooting experience; familiarity with logic analyzers.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (role is on U.S. government contracts); all employment contingent on background check and drug test.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience using MATLAB.
  • Experience implementing communication systems on FPGA or ASIC.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE). A PhD was referenced in relation to reduced experience requirements. The posting specifies year-based equivalencies: 6 years experience (B.S.), 4 years experience with an M.S., or 2 years experience with a Ph.D.
