Role Overview
The Senior FPGA Prototyping Engineer will play a critical role in a team dedicated to the design and engineering of innovative consumer electronics. This position involves defining the FPGA bring-up environment for ASIC and system prototyping within Amazon's existing hardware architecture.
Experience Level
This position requires an extensive background in FPGA design and development, preferably over 7 years in emulation and prototyping.
Key Responsibilities
This role entails a variety of key responsibilities essential for successful project execution:
- Design and develop hardware and software solutions for advanced consumer electronic products.
- Collaborate with diverse teams including product design and software engineering for seamless integration of FPGA solutions.
- Deliver IP and SoC FPGA prototyping platforms that facilitate validation efforts for software teams.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure successful validation of designs on FPGA platforms.
- Create and enhance verification processes for IPs through advanced FPGA environments.
- Identify and draft comprehensive tests for various scenarios.
- Work closely with design engineers to troubleshoot and ensure functionality of design blocks.
- Enhance emulation performance while optimizing resource utilization.
Skill Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications and experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 7+ years of experience in emulation, ASIC implementation, synthesis, STA, and physical design.
- Proficiency in serial protocols like SPI, I2C, I3C, and UART.
- Strong background in UVM, C, System C, and scripting.
- Proven experience in taping out production-level chips.
- Leadership experience in technical initiatives.
- 7+ years of experience in FPGA design or prototyping.
- Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipeline.
Education Requirements
A Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related fields is preferred, alongside experience with modern ASIC/FPGA design and verification tools.
