Role Summary

This position involves working as a Senior FPGA Development Engineer for Antenna Calibration as part of Amazon Leo. The initiative aims to launch low Earth orbit satellites to provide broadband connectivity. Your role will focus on the integration of FPGA in antenna systems, collaborating with various teams to ensure seamless functionality.

Experience Level

The ideal candidate should have a significant level of expertise with a minimum of 5 years of relevant, non-internship experience in software development and FPGA design.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design and implementation of complex embedded systems.
  • Designing software for high-volume phased array manufacturing.
  • Developing calibration software for on-orbit applications.
  • Characterizing antenna-related subsystems and systems.
  • Automating hardware testing and developing tools for phased array systems.
  • Collaborating with system architects and engineers for efficient design and implementation.
  • Driving trade-off analyses to enhance user experience.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading engineering teams.
  • Solid understanding of FPGA design using System Verilog and familiarity with Xilinx/AMD or Altera FPGAs.
  • Experience in writing test scripts, preferably in Python, for validating FPGA functionality.
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of phased array antennas and high-speed networking is advantageous.

Education Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred.
