Senior Firmware & Product Test Engineer

Role Summary

Senior engineer on the Firmware & Product Testing (FPT) team responsible for validating enterprise SSD firmware, with emphasis on NVMe front-end features and customer specifications.

The role focuses on test development, Python-based automation, execution, failure analysis, and applying data-driven / AI/ML techniques to improve test efficiency and product quality while collaborating with firmware engineers and data scientists.

Experience Level

Senior level. Approximately 5+ years of relevant firmware or validation experience expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include verification plan development, test automation, failure analysis, and cross-functional communication.

  • Develop and execute firmware verification plans for NVMe protocols and customer specifications, focusing on front-end features (e.g., SMART, TRIM, Get Log Page, OCP).
  • Design and implement grey-box, white-box, and black-box test methodologies across simulation, FPGA prototyping, and prototype hardware.
  • Analyze failures from weekly regressions, perform root-cause analysis, and document findings and mitigation steps.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute Python-based test automation, data-collection tools, and reporting within FPT frameworks.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving test coverage and code quality.
  • Apply and tune AI/ML techniques where appropriate for anomaly detection and failure pattern identification.
  • Communicate test results and recommendations to firmware teams, test developers, and management.
