Job Title
Senior Firmware Engineer — CSP Engagements
Role Summary
Senior Firmware Engineer on the CSP Engagements team responsible for embedded firmware and system software for datacenter platforms (e.g., GB200). The role combines low-level firmware development, hardware bring-up, and direct collaboration with cloud service providers to deliver and support production solutions.
Experience Level
Senior-level. 8–12 years of system software or firmware development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include firmware design, debugging, and customer enablement for datacenter server platforms.
- Design and implement firmware for manageability and observability of datacenter servers.
- Participate in hardware bring-up, out-of-band (OOB) firmware development, and hardware-software co-design for CSP deployments.
- Develop and maintain protocol stacks and management interfaces (Redfish, PLDM, MCTP, NSM).
- Debug GPU/system firmware issues including power management, performance, and thermal control; perform root-cause analysis and RAS work.
- Co-develop, co-debug, and deliver technical solutions with cloud service providers during product introductions.
- Collaborate with AE/FAE and Solution Architects to integrate solutions and produce technical documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.
- Deep expertise in datacenter server architectures, HPC systems, and hardware-software co-design.
- Proven experience with embedded firmware and server management controllers; track record of shipping production BMC solutions and performing hardware bring-up.
- Strong knowledge of DMTF and related management protocols (Redfish, IPMI, PLDM, MCTP, SPDM), telemetry frameworks, and OOB management architectures.
- Expert-level C/C++ skills in resource-constrained embedded environments, RTOS, device drivers, and low-level interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, MCTP).
- Experience with reliability, availability, serviceability (RAS): error handling, error injection, fault isolation, and system health monitoring.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with cloud and cluster deployment/management systems.
- Experience with GPU computing (CUDA) and deep learning workloads.
- Knowledge of memory fabric and CXL architectures.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
