Senior Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and bring up low-level firmware for new ARM-based hardware platforms, focusing on UEFI, secure boot components, and board power-on initialization. The role works closely with hardware, silicon, and systems teams to debug platform bring-up and ensure stable production firmware.
Team mission: enable reliable platform boot, secure firmware chains, and production-ready system firmware for Lattice products.
Experience Level
Senior-level; the posting requests 7+ years of relevant firmware, embedded systems, or platform bring-up experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include platform bring-up, firmware development, and cross-team debugging.
- Design, develop, and debug UEFI firmware for system bring-up and production platforms.
- Lead UEFI porting to new hardware platforms, including early boot and HAL layers.
- Perform board power-on, SoC initialization, and platform bring-up activities.
- Collaborate with hardware, silicon, and system teams to diagnose low-level firmware and power-on issues.
- Integrate and maintain ARM SCP Firmware and Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A) as part of the secure boot chain.
- Analyze boot flows, power sequencing, and memory initialization to ensure platform stability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for firmware design, bring-up procedures, and debug guidelines.

- Must-have: 7+ years of firmware/embedded systems or platform bring-up experience.
- Must-have: Strong expertise in UEFI firmware development and platform porting.
- Must-have: Proven experience with board bring-up and power-on debugging on new hardware platforms.
- Must-have: Solid understanding of ARM architecture and boot flows.
- Must-have: Proficiency in C for low-level firmware development.
- Must-have: Experience using hardware debugging tools.
- Preferred / working knowledge: ARM SCP Firmware and Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A) integration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
