Job Title

Senior Failure Analysis Engineer, Optical Fault Isolation

Role Summary

Drive die-level logic fault localization and root-cause identification for advanced semiconductor devices. Work closely with Design, Test, DFT, and Foundry teams to accelerate yield improvement and resolve complex silicon failures.

This role focuses on hands-on failure analysis (physical and electrical), ATE testing, and cross-functional technical leadership to improve product quality and manufacturability.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in semiconductor failure analysis, yield engineering, or product engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform die-level logic fault localization using physical and electrical fault isolation methodologies.
  • Plan and execute ATE testing and debugging on Advantest 93K; configure test looping to enable LVP, SDL and other FA techniques.
  • Apply DFT knowledge (Scan, BIST, boundary scan) to interpret test patterns and guide fault isolation strategies.
  • Analyze test data to distinguish design, fab process, or tester-induced failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional investigations with Product, Test, and Foundry engineering to resolve yield, performance, and reliability issues.
  • Document findings and communicate actionable recommendations to engineering and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

Key qualifications and technical skills:

  • 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in semiconductor failure analysis, yield engineering, or product engineering.
  • Strong practical experience with the Advantest 93K test platform.
  • Good understanding of DFT basics and logic fault localization techniques.
  • Expert-level experience with laser/optical fault isolation techniques (LVP, EMMI, SDL, OBIRCH, or similar).
  • Experience with Teradyne UltraFlex is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, strong technical communication, and ability to drive complex issues to resolution.

Education Requirements

MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
