Job Title
Senior Engineer – Software Design (Platform Firmware)
Role Summary
Develop low-level firmware and platform software for next-generation SoCs/ASICs across the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon enablement to post-silicon bring-up. Work on bootloaders, BSPs, device drivers, HALs and system integration while collaborating with hardware, validation, verification, and architecture teams.
Experience Level
Senior — 4–7+ years of embedded firmware/software development experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include firmware development, silicon bring-up, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for SoCs/ASICs, including bootloaders, BSPs, drivers, and HAL.
- Develop pre-silicon firmware for simulation, emulation, and FPGA platforms.
- Lead and support silicon bring-up, board bring-up, hardware validation, debugging, and production enablement.
- Optimize firmware for performance, power, memory, and reliability.
- Debug hardware/software issues using JTAG, GDB, Lauterbach, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Collaborate with hardware, validation, verification, and architecture teams to integrate and validate subsystems.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and maintain technical documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to subsystem development and delivery.
- Leverage CI/CD, Git workflows and AI-powered tools to improve development productivity and documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 4–7+ years of embedded firmware/software development experience.
- Strong programming skills in Embedded C and proficiency with Python.
- Experience with bootloaders, BSPs, device drivers, HAL and RTOS (FreeRTOS/Zephyr).
- Knowledge of ARM and RISC-V architectures and common interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet).
- Experience with silicon/board bring-up and hardware–software integration.
- Proven debugging skills with JTAG, GDB, Lauterbach, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with simulation, emulation, or FPGA-based development.
