Job Title

Senior Engineer, Product Applications

Role Summary

Provide product application engineering for power and mixed-signal products: develop reference designs, evaluation boards, demos, training materials, and customer-facing documentation. Support customers and drive design-ins through technical support, system testing, and demonstrations.

Member of the product applications team based in San Jose; role includes partial telecommute (2 days/week).

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting specifies a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as an Applications Engineer or in a related role.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include design, validation, documentation, customer support, and mentoring.

  • Create and present training and education materials for engineers and customers.
  • Define, develop, and support new products, reference hardware, and software designs.
  • Design, lay out, build, and test application boards and demonstration systems to validate products.
  • Provide technical support to customers to secure design-ins and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform system architecture analysis, hardware/software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Report design, reliability, and maintenance problems to product teams and recommend corrective actions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with firmware/API/GUI teams for software integration.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience. (Degree requirements are in the Education Requirements section below.)

  • At least 2 years' experience performing hardware, software, and system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting in power, mixed-signal, or electronic product development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of analog circuitry, DC–DC converter topologies, and control theory.
  • Demonstrated expertise with ADCs, DACs, amplifiers, analog/digital filters, I2C, SPI, microcontrollers, circuit design, or PCB layout.
  • Experience designing and debugging evaluation kits, test boards, and reference designs; automating bench testing and collecting measurements using oscilloscopes, power supplies, and DMMs.
  • Experience creating customer-facing collateral, documentation, and application notes.
  • Programming experience in C, C#, Visual Basic, Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW, or familiarity with circuit simulation tools such as SPICE.
  • Proficient in developing training materials for engineers and customers.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field required; foreign educational equivalents accepted.
