Job Title
Senior Engineer, HIG HBM Layout
Role Summary
Design and deliver block-level layouts for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) projects as part of Micron's Hyderabad HBM team. Work in a multi-project environment and collaborate with global engineering teams to meet project schedules and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior — 6 to 9 years of experience in memory/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include IC layout design, verification, delivery, mentoring, and cross-team coordination.
- Design and develop critical analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital blocks and support full-chip integration.
- Perform layout verification activities (LVS/DRC/Antenna), quality checks, and documentation.
- Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with acceptable quality.
- Plan and estimate area/time, schedule tasks, delegate work, and execute to meet project milestones across multiple projects.
- Guide and review junior engineers on sub-block layouts.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with global engineering teams to ensure layout project success.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; listed technical education is in the Education Requirements section below.
- Expertise in Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Hands-on experience creating layouts for critical blocks such as temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, and differential amplifiers.
- Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, and device parasitics.
- Understanding of how layout affects circuit speed, capacitance, power, and area; ability to apply design constraints to produce high-quality layouts.
- Familiarity with memory design hierarchies and architectures.
- Strong problem-solving skills in physical verification of custom layouts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Multiple tape-out support experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
BE or MTech in Electronics or VLSI Engineering.
