Senior Engineer - AMS Verification
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Senior Engineer - AMS Verification
Role Summary
Responsible for planning and executing analog and mixed-signal (AMS) verification across block, subsystem, and full-chip levels. The role develops and maintains mixed-signal simulation environments, creates models to enable feasible full-chip verification, and builds automation and AI-assisted tools to improve verification efficiency.
Experience Level
Senior level. Minimum of 3+ years of relevant AMS verification experience is expected per the minimum qualifications.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include verification, simulation environment development, debugging, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Plan and execute verification of analog and mixed-signal circuits at block, subsystem, and full-chip levels.
- Develop and maintain full-chip mixed-signal simulation environments that co-simulate analog circuitry, digital logic, and firmware; create schematic and behavioral block models as needed.
- Develop verification plans from datasheets, requirements, interface definitions, and identified risk areas.
- Run static and dynamic simulations to identify leakage paths, power-sequencing issues, unintended interactions, and perform device-level electrical rule checks (SOA, snapback, SFB) and SPF extraction analyses.
- Execute power-cycling, power-loss, and brownout simulations; run chip-level user-mode simulations correlating analog subsystems, logic behavior, and firmware algorithms.
- Debug complex AMS failures, identify root causes, and coordinate closure with design, firmware, and verification partners.
- Develop scripts and reusable automation for regression setup, simulation execution, log processing, waveform analysis, result comparison, and report generation.
- Design and prototype AI-assisted engineering flows and agent-based tools to automate or accelerate AMS verification tasks; integrate validated AI outputs with human review and guardrails.
- Define success criteria for AI/automation, evaluate accuracy and usefulness of outputs, document limitations, and ensure final verification decisions remain grounded in simulations and engineering judgment.
- Collaborate with product engineering, test, probe, process integration, assembly, CAD, data engineering, and software teams to improve product quality, reliability, and time-to-market.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, followed by concise nice-to-have items.
- Must-have: Understanding of MOS device physics, including second-order effects.
- Working knowledge of analog and mixed-signal circuits (current mirrors, bandgap references, op-amps, regulators, ADCs, DACs, charge pumps).
- Hands-on AMS verification experience: testbench development, simulation setup, regression execution, waveform analysis, and debug.
- Familiarity with circuit and mixed-signal simulators (Virtuoso, HSPICE, XA or FastSPICE-class simulators) and co-simulation environments.
- Familiarity with hardware description languages: Verilog/SystemVerilog and Verilog-A/Verilog-AMS.
- Working knowledge of Linux/UNIX and scripting (Python, Perl, shell, or equivalent).
- Exposure to AI development concepts or workflows and the ability to validate AI-generated outputs and convert verification pain points into practical automation prototypes.
- Strong debugging mindset, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Nice-to-have: Deep knowledge of NAND memory architecture and periphery circuits.
- Experience building or maintaining chip-level AMS co-simulation environments; familiarity with Cadence design environments and LVS/DRC tools.
- Proficiency in Python with experience using APIs, structured data, version control, and maintainable software-development practices.
- Experience prototyping AI agents or multi-step AI workflows, and familiarity with tool-calling, retrieval, evaluation methods, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop review.
- Experience measuring benefits of automation/AI flows using indicators such as reduced manual effort, faster debug, improved traceability, or better verification completeness.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Engineering with relevant experience. Related technical fields and equivalent practical experience are acceptable according to the posting.
