Role Summary
The Senior Director will lead an engineering organization in Bengaluru, owning technical strategy, delivery, and team growth across hardware and software engineering efforts. This role partners with product, research, and cross-functional leaders to deliver complex engineering products.
Primary focus: define and execute engineering plans, scale teams, ensure high-quality releases, and align engineering priorities with business objectives.
Experience Level
Senior — leadership role. Typically requires extensive engineering and management experience (e.g., 10+ years) with a track record of leading multiple teams or an engineering organization.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Set technical direction and roadmap for the local engineering organization; ensure alignment with global product and business goals.
- Lead, mentor, and grow engineering managers and senior engineers; build and retain high-performing teams.
- Drive delivery of complex projects on schedule and within quality and budget targets.
- Work cross-functionally with product management, QA, operations, and senior leadership to prioritize work and resolve trade-offs.
- Manage hiring, resource planning, and organizational design for the Bengaluru engineering organization.
- Establish development best practices, metrics, and processes to improve productivity and product quality.
- Represent engineering in executive discussions and communicate progress, risks, and plans to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
- Must-have: Proven experience leading engineering teams and managers; strong program and stakeholder management skills.
- Must-have: Demonstrated ability to deliver complex software and/or hardware products at scale and to drive cross-functional execution.
- Must-have: Strong communication skills and experience operating with senior leadership.
- Nice-to-have: Experience in semiconductor, EDA, ASIC, or related hardware-software domains.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with distributed or global engineering teams and remote collaboration.
