Senior Director, ATE Test Development
Role Summary
Lead and scale NVIDIA's ATE (automated test equipment) development for complex silicon from new product introduction through high-volume manufacturing. Manage a global organization responsible for production test architecture, hardware and program development, silicon correlation, yield enablement, cost-of-test optimization, and test automation.
Collaborate with architecture, product engineering, manufacturing, reliability, and external suppliers to ensure design-to-test alignment and production readiness.
Experience Level
Senior - 18+ years of semiconductor experience, including 8+ years of management experience leading distributed engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Lead strategy, teams, and execution for ATE development and production test readiness.
- Define vision, roadmap, and operating model for ATE across new product introductions and sustaining production.
- Lead and develop managers and senior engineers across test hardware, program development, characterization, and correlation.
- Drive production test readiness: test coverage, guardband strategy, yield learning, defect screening, and test cost reduction.
- Establish scalable methodologies, standards, release criteria, and quality gates for ATE deployment.
- Coordinate with architecture, circuit build, product engineering, reliability, manufacturing, and external partners to ensure design-to-test alignment.
- Develop ATE platform strategy, vendor engagement, capacity readiness, and capital planning to support product ramps.
- Use data and analytics to improve silicon correlation, test limits, binning strategies, and long-term product quality.
- Build leadership capability through hiring, development, succession planning, and multi-functional influence.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and leadership experience.
- 18+ years of relevant semiconductor experience with 8+ years of management experience leading distributed engineering organizations.
- Deep expertise in ATE development for high-volume silicon, SoC, ASIC, or GPU-class products.
- Proven success leading NPI, silicon bring-up, characterization, production ramp, yield improvement, and quality execution.
- Strong knowledge of ATE platforms, test hardware design, test program development, instrumentation, silicon correlation, and statistical analysis.
- Proven ability to partner across design, DFT, product engineering, failure analysis, reliability, manufacturing, and OSAT/supplier ecosystems.
- Experience owning roadmaps, budgets, staffing plans, and operational priorities for large-scale engineering organizations.
- Strong executive communication and influence across technical and business stakeholders.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with GPU, AI, networking, or other high-performance compute products.
- Track record of reducing test cost while improving outgoing quality and production scalability.
- Background in test automation, data infrastructure, and improvement guided by data insights.
- Experience building and scaling global test-development organizations across multiple sites and external partners; familiarity with system-level test and product binning workflows.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
