Job Title

Senior DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Design-for-Test (DFT) Engineer on a chip-design team responsible for DFT architecture, verification and post-silicon validation for complex semiconductor products. The role implements test structures and methodologies, works across RTL, physical design and validation teams, and mentors junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience expectations: PhD with 3+ years, MSEE with 5+ years, or BSEE (or equivalent practical experience) with 8+ years in DFT or related domains.

Responsibilities

Lead DFT design and verification efforts and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

  • Design and implement test access mechanisms, IO BIST, memory BIST, and scan compression.
  • Develop and deploy DFT methodologies for next-generation products.
  • Define and verify scan test plans, ATPG flows, fault modeling and fault simulation.
  • Validate test patterns and logic on large, multi-million-gate designs using vendor tools.
  • Participate in silicon bring-up and ATE debug, including pattern formats, failure analysis and test program development.
  • Collaborate with RTL, clock design, STA, place-and-route and power teams to make test vs. cost/quality trade-offs.
  • Mentor and review work from junior engineers on test designs and trade-offs.

Requirements

Technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Demonstrated expertise in scan test planning, BIST (memory and IO), fault modeling, ATPG and fault simulation.
  • Must-have: Proven track record verifying and validating test patterns and logic on complex designs using commercial tools.
  • Must-have: Experience with silicon debug and bring-up on ATE, including failure processing and test program development.
  • Must-have: Good exposure to RTL and clock design, STA, place-and-route and power-awareness for test trade-offs.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong scripting/programming skills in Perl, Python or Tcl.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills; ability to work on ambiguous or rare challenges.

Education Requirements

Degree-based expectations: BSEE (or equivalent practical experience) with 8+ years, MSEE with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years in DFT or related domains. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
