Job Title
Senior DFT Design Engineer, AWS Machine Learning Acceleration
Role Summary
Member of the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team responsible for Design-for-Test (DFT) architecture and implementation for custom AWS ML SoCs used in inference and training servers.
The role partners with block designers, physical design, architecture and product engineering to deliver high-quality DFT from RTL through silicon bring-up, and mentors junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior level. Job requires significant prior ASIC/SoC experience (see requirements for years of experience).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing DFT architectures, coordinating cross-functional delivery, and ensuring testability through silicon.
- Define and develop DFT architectures for advanced technology nodes.
- Collaborate with block designers and physical design to implement efficient DFT solutions.
- Serve as primary point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders to align schedules and goals.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers through reviews and technical guidance.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables; ensure high-quality DFT implementation from RTL through silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience required for the role; preferred items follow.
-
Must-have: 5+ years of semiconductor ASIC design experience, including ownership of end-to-end design of major SoC blocks.
-
Must-have: Practical knowledge of DFT methodologies and tools, including ATPG, JTAG and MBIST; ability to evaluate trade-offs between test quality and test time.
-
Must-have: Experience with automation and script development for design/test flows.
-
Nice-to-have: RTL coding and debug experience; performance, power and area analysis and trade-off evaluation.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with ASIC/FPGA design and verification tools, design verification methodologies, gate-level testing and multi-clock (CDC) practices.
-
Nice-to-have: SOC bring-up, post-silicon validation and practical silicon debug experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with STA constraints development and analysis for DFT modes; scripting in Perl, Python or Tcl.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field is listed as a basic requirement. Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field is listed as preferred.
