Job Title
Senior Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design acoustic filters (BAW/SAW) and front-end RF modules for mobile wireless applications. Work within a cross-functional engineering team to perform simulation, layout, characterization and transfer of new products to production.
Role includes device-level design, EM and acoustic simulation, interaction with process and test teams, and improving design flows and tools.
Experience Level
Senior — experienced professional engineer. See Education Requirements for degree and years guidance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, simulation, and product transfer for RF filtering components and modules.
- Develop BAW and SAW filter components for wireless RF applications (bandpass, ladder, notch, CRF, acoustic-assisted, etc.).
- Perform acoustic and electromagnetic (EM) simulations using commercial and internal tools; produce device layouts and photomask-ready outputs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical competitive analyses to define new products.
- Collaborate with process engineers and R&D teams to account for fabrication variations and capabilities.
- Work with characterization and test engineers to evaluate and diagnose devices using RF/microwave test equipment.
- Document design data, transfer products to production, and contribute to continuous improvement of design flow and methods.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
-
Must-have: Experience with RF circuit design including resonators, filters, couplers, antennas, and amplifiers.
-
Must-have: EM simulation experience (HFSS or equivalent) and layout design/troubleshooting.
-
Must-have: Impedance matching, tuning, filter component evaluation and integration, and RF device/system-level measurements.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of microelectronic fabrication and high-volume manufacturing; familiarity with statistical analysis and process-improvement techniques.
-
Nice-to-have: Direct BAW or SAW design experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Programming/scripting skills and/or MATLAB.
-
Nice-to-have: General knowledge of wireless protocols and communication standards.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with ~5 years of experience; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with ~2–3 years of experience; or PhD (field not specified). Degree-level guidance was provided in the original posting.
