Job Title

Senior Data Quality & Automation Engineer (m/w/d)

Role Summary

Build reliable, scalable data foundations for R&D by making semiconductor engineering data trusted, traceable, and automated. You will work with wafer, sample, measurement, and process data to enable digital twins, analytics, and workflow automation.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5–8 years of relevant professional experience (the posting also indicates 3–5 years for a mid-level hire).

Responsibilities

Deliver production-grade data solutions and ensure data fit-for-purpose across R&D workflows.

  • Define and evolve data models for R&D entities (wafer, sample, measurement, process).
  • Design and implement robust data pipelines and automated data quality checks.
  • Improve traceability and metadata management so data can be understood and reused across teams.
  • Establish engineering standards for data handling, testing, monitoring, versioning, and documentation.
  • Support digital twin, analytics, and workflow automation use cases by ensuring data is fit for purpose.
  • Evaluate and prototype AI/ML versus rule-based approaches for production pipelines, balancing impact and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and project stakeholders to operationalize data solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, production experience, and communication ability.

  • Relevant professional experience building production-grade systems (expect ~5–8 years for Senior roles).
  • Strong experience in data engineering, backend, and software engineering.
  • Hands-on skills with Python, SQL, APIs, and building data pipelines.
  • Proven ability to design reliable pipelines and automate validation of complex data.
  • Deep understanding of data quality, traceability, schema design, and maintainability.
  • Experience with workflow automation, dashboarding, or integrating engineering data into operational/project processes.
  • Experience with testing, monitoring, and other production-grade engineering practices.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments with imperfect processes and legacy systems.
  • Strong communication skills in English and German.

Education Requirements

University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
