Job Title

Senior ASIC Physical Design Engineer, Cache Coherent Interconnects

Role Summary

Responsible for physical design implementation of CPU on-chip interconnect networks and last-level caches. Work includes synthesis, timing closure, floorplanning and collaborating with logic and micro-architecture teams to meet area, performance and power targets.

This role is on NVIDIA's CPU Cache Coherent Interconnects team and contributes to high-performance semiconductor products across the company.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5+ years of experience in processor or other high-performance semiconductor design.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include implementation and optimization of on-chip interconnects and caches, driving timing closure, and collaborating across teams.

  • Lead synthesis and timing closure to meet frequency, area, power and performance goals.
  • Perform floorplanning and physical optimization for high-frequency designs.
  • Collaborate with RTL and micro-architecture teams to assess feasibility and implement design changes.
  • Execute implementation tasks from RTL through ECOs and signoff timing.
  • Evaluate and influence physical design for next-generation coherent interconnects and system-level caches.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and relevant experience; preferred items listed where applicable.

  • 5+ years of experience in processor or other high-performance semiconductor physical design.
  • Hands-on synthesis experience and proven timing-closure expertise for high-frequency designs.
  • Experience with floorplanning and industry-standard physical design tools and flows.
  • Strong communication and ability to work effectively in a dynamic, global team.
  • Preferred: Verilog proficiency and familiarity with RTL design and verification, DFT and ECO processes.
  • Preferred: experience with interconnect, cache, or CPU core design.

Education Requirements

Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
