Job Title
Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer - VLSI Design
Role Summary
Work on AI-driven software systems for circuit design within a multi-functional team focused on VLSI/ASIC design automation. Build and deploy ML models, data analysis pipelines, and agentic workflows to accelerate end-to-end design automation and improve circuit optimization and SPICE correlation.
Hybrid role based in Santa Clara, CA; collaborate with hardware, EDA, and manufacturing teams to integrate AI into production design flows.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience in circuit design, VLSI, ASIC, EDA, or silicon analysis.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include data analysis, model development, and integration of AI systems into EDA/design flows.
- Analyze pre-silicon and post-silicon hardware design data and perform manufacturing process variation analysis.
- Develop models and algorithms for VLSI circuit design tasks such as timing, circuit optimization, and SPICE correlation.
- Translate design requirements into data science, ML, and agentic system problems; architect and implement solutions.
- Build, test, validate, and release models and AI systems that integrate with internal ML, automation, and visualization tools.
- Extract features, raise and validate hypotheses, and create self-improving workflows driven by data.
- Optimize models, algorithms, and autonomous optimization systems to meet desired quality-of-result (QOR) targets.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications.
-
Must-have: 4+ years experience in circuit design, VLSI, ASIC, EDA, silicon analysis, or custom circuit design.
-
Must-have: Proficient programming skills in Python and C++.
-
Must-have: Applied math/ML or software programming experience with demonstrated ability to apply ML techniques to practical problems.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with deep learning frameworks and agent tools such as PyTorch, LangChain, or LangGraph.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience building AI systems for EDA, design automation, or autonomous design-space exploration and optimization.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience building agentic systems, autonomous optimization loops, or production-scale ML/AI platforms.
- Effective verbal and written communication and technical presentation skills.
- Self-starter with a passion for continuous learning and sharing results across teams.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent practical experience accepted.
