Job Title

Senior Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Support tier‑one accounts on power, thermal and signal‑integrity signoff workflows for semiconductor designs. Work directly with customers to debug complex issues, deploy and validate signoff flows, and translate customer needs into technical specifications for R&D.

This position is based in Vancouver and is part of the application engineering team focused on signoff tools and customer-facing technical engagements across North America.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting requires at least 1 year of hands‑on semiconductor design experience; see the Education Requirements section for degree-plus-experience rules.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support and deployment expertise for customer signoff projects and new workflows.

  • Support key accounts on power integrity, thermal integrity, and signal integrity signoff.
  • Meet frequently with customers to gather requirements, debug design issues, and deliver tape‑out enabling solutions.
  • Translate customer problems into clear technical requirements and specifications for internal R&D.
  • Deploy and validate new workflows and integrated capabilities, including IR‑aware timing and thermal‑aware design methodologies.
  • Support both post‑sales deployments and pre‑sales technical engagements to drive adoption.
  • Build and share internal expertise on signoff tools and contribute to documentation and cross‑training.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to align customer feedback with product roadmaps.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and on-the-job capabilities. Separate out degree requirements are listed under Education Requirements.

  • Minimum 1 year hands‑on semiconductor design experience with expertise in PDN/EMIR, static timing analysis, timing closure, thermal integrity, or ECO flows at block or SoC level.
  • Hands‑on experience with signoff tools such as RedHawk‑SC, RedHawk‑SC ElectroThermal, Totem, Totem‑SC, PrimeTime, or PrimeClosure.
  • Deep understanding of signoff flows: power integrity, thermal integrity, timing analysis, and reliability.
  • Ability to independently debug and resolve complex design issues under time pressure.
  • Programming or scripting skills (Python, TCL, or similar) to automate workflows and reproduce issues.
  • Experience working directly with customers and translating technical problems into actionable engineering tasks.
  • Comfort collaborating across time zones and with global teams.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of advanced node design and semiconductor flows; experience with 3D‑IC architectures and interposer/CoWoS‑L PDN considerations.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 2 years of experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 1 year of experience. Field of study explicitly referenced: Electrical Engineering. No certifications or alternate degree fields were specified in the posting.
