Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Member of the Mixed-Signal IC design group developing high-speed and high-accuracy analog circuits for optical transceivers (100G, 400G, 1T) used in data center, metro, long-haul and ultra-long-haul networks. The team integrates analog designs into ASICs and works closely with digital/DSP, system, package and module design teams.
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the San Jose, CA office.
Experience Level
Senior. See Education Requirements for degree-linked experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, design, verification, and productization of high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers, and technical leadership of complex IC blocks.
- Architect, design, layout, characterize, and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits.
- Lead design efforts for large/complex blocks, mentor engineers, and track deliverables to production.
- Participate in peer reviews and establish design methodology from concept through production test.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
- Develop and optimize high-speed AMS circuits (SERDES, PLLs, data converters, analog front-ends) and related building blocks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs across multiple areas (see below).
- Experience with high-speed serial links: serializers/deserializers, data converters, and equalization techniques.
- Experience with voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, op-amps, and programmable gain amplifiers.
- Practical experience in layout, measurement, and taking designs into production with attention to signal/power integrity.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications) and FinFET technologies.
- High-frequency layout experience (passive components, transmission lines, inductors, transformers).
- Floorplanning and custom transistor layout experience; design for manufacturability.
- Experience with ESD laboratory practices and mixed-signal simulation tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, EMX).
Education Requirements
Degree and experience guidance: BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. (Posting indicates equivalent practical experience is acceptable.)
