Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer — Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Design and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers used in data center and telecom networks. The Mixed-signal IC design group delivers high-speed (≥25 Gb/s) and high-accuracy analog designs integrated into ASICs and works closely with digital/DSP, system, package, and module teams.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience expectations depend on degree: PhD with 5+ years, MS with 8+ years, BSEE with 12+ years, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Lead complex mixed-signal IC development from architecture through production and coordinate cross-functional integration.
- Architect, design, layout, measure, and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal CMOS circuits and blocks.
- Lead large-block design efforts, mentor engineers, manage deliverables, and conduct peer reviews.
- Develop and validate SERDES, data converters, PLLs/clock distribution, regulators, drivers, op-amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization circuits.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity and manufacturability requirements.
- Establish and apply test, measurement, and design-for-manufacturing practices to transition designs into production.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on design, simulation, and measurement experience for high-speed ICs across multiple domains; demonstrated expertise in at least three areas such as high-speed serial links (SERDES), data converters, PLLs/clocking, regulators, drivers, analog front-ends, and equalizers.
- Practical experience with mixed-signal simulation and verification flows and AMS simulations.
- Proven ability to lead complex IC projects and mentor team members.
- Experience with high-speed AMS measurements and laboratory practices.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications) and FinFET technologies.
- High-frequency layout experience (passive components, transmission lines), floorplanning, custom transistor layout, and design-for-manufacturability.
- Experience with ESD laboratory practices and methodology.
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, MATLAB, EMX, and mixed-signal simulation flows.
Education Requirements
BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years — or equivalent practical experience.
