Role Overview

The Senior Analog Designer at AMD is responsible for researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. This role requires knowledge in electronic theory, as well as the ability to model, simulate, and characterize high-speed signal propagation and power delivery networks in AMD products.

Job Summary

This position focuses on ensuring optimal design for packaging and PCBs through simulations. You will be tasked with writing custom tools and scripts for an optimized workflow, analyzing electronics system requirements, and applying engineering principles to create effective designs.

Experience Level

This is a mid-career position requiring a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, along with at least two years of experience in a similar engineering role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and design electronic components for semiconductor devices.
  • Simulate and characterize high-speed signal propagation in products.
  • Communicate effectively with the signal and power integrity team.
  • Develop custom tools and scripts for design integration.
  • Review layouts for refinement opportunities.
  • Run performance simulations and analyze results.
  • Evaluate project feasibility based on system requirements and customer needs.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experiences:

  • Two years of experience in CMOS transistor design.
  • Proficient with CAD tools and EDA tools for chip verification.
  • Experience in Unix or Linux environments.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl, TCL, Ruby, or Shell.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field is required.
