Senior Algorithm Engineer

Role Summary

Develop image-processing, signal-processing, and AI algorithms for wafer inspection, defect detection, classification, and metrology. Deliver algorithms from modeling and proof-of-concept through software implementation, validation, and production deployment within KLA's Surfscan inspection product group.

Responsibilities

The role owns algorithm design, implementation, and production support for semiconductor inspection systems.

• Design, develop, optimize, and validate algorithms for defect detection, classification, and metrology.
• Perform modeling, simulation, proof-of-concept development, and software architecture tasks.
• Characterize performance and validate algorithms on production data; document results and support product releases.
• Collaborate with software, systems, applications, product, and hardware teams to prototype and deploy new capabilities.
• Investigate and resolve complex algorithm and system issues encountered in customer manufacturing environments; provide field support when required.
• Analyze large-scale production data to improve robustness and detection performance; contribute to technology roadmaps.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools.

• Image processing, image segmentation, texture analysis, and feature extraction.
• Statistical data analysis, signal processing, and filter design.
• Pattern recognition, classification, machine learning and deep learning.
• Computer vision and AI-based inspection systems for semiconductor metrology.
• Programming in C/C++ and MATLAB and/or Python.

Nice-to-have:

• CPU optimization (SIMD, SSE, AVX) and high-performance computing techniques.
• GPU programming (CUDA) and algorithm acceleration.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications as stated: Doctorate (PhD) with 0 years related experience; Master's degree with 3 years related experience; Bachelor's degree with 5 years related experience. The posting does not specify particular fields of study or certifications.
