Satellite SoC Physical Design Engineer — VLSI

Role Summary

Join a multi-national engineering team to deliver physical design for advanced Satellite System-on-Chips (SoCs). The role focuses on implementing complex VLSI devices, integrating IP, and driving tapeout-quality physical design flows.

Work closely with front-end designers, verification, and validation teams to achieve timing, area, and power targets using industry EDA tools and scripting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include delivering physical implementation and collaborating across design teams.

• Perform floorplanning, placement, clock-tree synthesis, routing, and timing closure for SoC designs.
• Prepare and manage constraints, run static timing analysis, and drive signoff flows (STA, LVS, DRC as applicable).
• Integrate IP blocks and manage design-for-manufacturability tasks toward tapeout.
• Develop and maintain automation and scripts to support EDA tool flows.
• Work with cross-functional teams (RTL, verification, physical verification) to resolve implementation issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by desirable skills.

• Must-have: Substantial practical experience in physical design for SoC/ASIC projects; strong proficiency with industry EDA tools and scripting (examples: Cadence/Synopsys/Mentor toolsets; Tcl, Python).
• Must-have: Experience with P&R flows, timing closure, and signoff methodologies.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with satellite SoC or other aerospace applications, low-power design techniques, and advanced process nodes.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with IP integration, DFT, and physical verification practices.

Education Requirements

BSc in a relevant technical field (for example Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience. No advanced degree requirement specified.
