Job Title
RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Member of AMD's Memory PHY team responsible for RTL and firmware development for high-speed memory interfaces (LPDDR/DDR). Work spans microarchitectural design, RTL implementation, power and timing optimization, verification collaboration, and physical implementation.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Deliver RTL features and support integration of memory PHY IP through design, verification, and implementation phases.
- Microarchitectural design and RTL implementation of memory PHY IP features.
- Develop firmware sequences and algorithms in collaboration with firmware team.
- Perform synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), CDC/RDC analysis, UPF design/simulation, power optimization, and gate-level simulation.
- Drive timing synthesis and support physical implementation with circuit and layout teams.
- Collaborate with design verification teams; author and run UVM testbenches and debug RTL/firmware using simulation tools.
- Participate in design specification reviews, RTL code reviews, and performance/power trade-off analysis.
Requirements
Core technical skills and tools expected for the role.
Must-have
- Strong RTL design skills in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Proficient in C and at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, or TCL).
- Experience debugging RTL and firmware with simulation tools; familiarity with UVM testbenches and working in Linux and Windows environments.
- Understanding of clocking architectures, synchronization, CDC methodology, and STA concepts.
- Digital design and microarchitecture knowledge for high-speed interfaces.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with SERDES, DDR, memory controller, or MAC design.
