RISC-V System IP Sr Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
RISC-V System IP Sr Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer on the Systems/SoC IP team responsible for architecture, RTL design, verification interface, and delivery of RISC-V/ARM-compatible system IP blocks. Work spans micro-architecture, front-end RTL, synthesis coordination, verification, and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 3+ years of hardware/IP/SoC design experience. The posting includes alternative minima tied to degree level (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Deliver and coordinate front-end IP/SoC design activities and milestones across design, verification, and physical implementation.
- Define and implement micro-architecture and RTL for system IP (RISC-V/ARM compatible).
- Write and maintain Verilog RTL; collaborate on synthesis and timing closure.
- Integrate and verify coherency, interconnects and virtualization support (CHI/AHB/AXI/ACE/ACE-Lite/NoC concepts).
- Drive project milestones, planning, and tracking of front-end design dependencies.
- Coordinate with verification, DFT, formal, and physical teams to achieve design convergence.
- Troubleshoot silicon-level issues and support silicon debug activities.
- Communicate technical status and lead cross-functional design efforts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and hands-on experience required for the role.
- Practical experience with RISC-V or ARM ISA and CPU architecture concepts.
- Strong digital design and RTL development skills; Verilog experience required.
- Knowledge of interconnect protocols and NoC concepts (CHI, AHB, AXI, ACE, ACE-Lite).
- Experience with synthesis flows (Synopsys Design Compiler), timing closure, and physical implementation trade-offs.
- Experience with verification methods, DFT, formal verification, and silicon debug.
- Familiarity with linting and sign-off flows (Lint, CDC, PLDRC, CLP).
- Ability to manage dependencies, plan tasks, and drive cross-team delivery milestones.
- Effective written and verbal communication; leadership in engineering teams.
Education Requirements
Degree requirements listed in the posting include: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field (paired with 2β3+ years relevant Systems/Hardware/SoC experience); Master's degree in those fields (paired with 1β2+ years relevant experience); or PhD in a related field. The posting also allows related work experience in lieu of exact degree phrasing.
