Job Title

RF/Electrical Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead electrical design and development of RF power amplifiers for defense communications, radar, and electronic warfare as part of the Defense & Aerospace High-Power RF (HPRF) product development team.

Work includes electromagnetic modeling, MMIC integration, PCB-level power management, product verification testing, and supporting products through concept, development, qualification, and production stages.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Professional). Guidance: 2+ years relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for the role include design, simulation, integration, and verification of high-power RF amplifier hardware.

  • Build complex HFSS and other EM models of RF/mmWave multi-stage high-gain, high-power solid-state amplifiers in channelized and/or enclosed cavities.
  • Integrate MMICs into housings and assemblies for high-power RF solutions; develop cascaded MMIC modules using 2.5D and 3D electromagnetic simulators.
  • Design PCB-level power management and analog circuitry for MMIC biasing and health monitoring.
  • Conduct product checkout, optimization, and design verification testing (DVT) in the lab; execute DVT analysis and present results to internal/external customers.
  • Support products through concept/feasibility, development, qualification, and production lifecycle stages.

Requirements

Must-have skills, experience, and constraints:

  • Minimum ~2 years relevant RF design experience working on RF/microwave hardware.
  • Experience with RF/microwave circuit simulation tools such as ADS, Microwave Office (MWO), or Cadence Spectre; proficiency with EDA tools for EM and wave-propagation simulation.
  • Strong foundation in RF/microwave engineering principles (S-parameters, material permittivity, impedance matching).
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with RF test and measurement equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to summarize technical concepts clearly.
  • Self-driven, proactive learner with strong initiative.
  • Must be a US Person (US citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee); position is not eligible for visa sponsorship and requires work on US Government contracts.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout for RF hardware.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required. A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Analog/RF design is preferred. (Equivalent practical experience may be considered where applicable.)
