RF Device Modeling Engineer

Role Summary

Join Broadcom Wireless Semiconductor Division (WSD) to characterize RF devices and develop compact and physics-based models and simulation methodologies for accurate RF circuit simulation. The role focuses on power amplifiers, SOI RF switches, and low-noise amplifiers used in RF front-end modules.

The engineer will perform measurements and analysis, run electromagnetic and electro-thermal simulations, improve circuit-level simulation accuracy, and define device characteristics to support process and circuit performance improvements.

Senior — typically requires 8+ years of related work or academic experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include measurement, modeling, simulation, and cross-team technical feedback.

• Characterize RF devices and collect DC, S-parameter, and load-pull measurement data.
• Design and specify test fixtures and de-embedding procedures for accurate measurements.
• Develop device models and simulation methodologies for RF circuit simulation accuracy.
• Perform device physics analysis and run TCAD-based simulations as needed.
• Conduct electromagnetic and electro-thermal simulations to support device and circuit models.
• Define device characteristic requirements to improve RF circuit performance and provide feedback to process development teams.
• Collaborate with RF designers and other teams; document results and maintain clear technical communication.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• Strong understanding of device physics and major coursework in device-related subjects.
• Deep knowledge of BJT/HBT/MOSFET behavior across temperature, voltage, and current ranges.
• Familiarity with RF measurement fundamentals and de-embedding techniques.
• Experience with Cadence layout tools and circuit simulation tools such as Keysight ADS.
• Experience with TCAD device simulators such as Synopsys Sentaurus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is specified with 8+ years of related work or academic experience. Major coursework and strong understanding of device physics are expected.
