RF Device Modeling Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
RF Device Modeling Engineer
Role Summary
Join TI's SPICE Modeling Group to extract and optimize compact (SPICE) models for advanced RF semiconductor devices and support device-to-circuit integration. The role works with process, device, and circuit engineering teams to deliver validated models used in product design.
Experience Level
Mid-level - requires 5+ years of experience in compact (SPICE) RF device modeling.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on developing, validating, and automating compact device models and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deploy modeling solutions.
- Extract compact models for advanced devices (HBT/BJT, RF CMOS, RF passives, GaN).
- Develop model formulations and parameter extraction methodologies, including AI/ML-enhanced approaches.
- Automate modeling infrastructure to accelerate development and deployment.
- Validate models via measurement, s-parameter and circuit-level analysis (noise, linearity, harmonic distortion).
- Partner with designers and technologists to enable design-technology co-optimization and circuit topology solutions.
- Lead technical discussions, manage schedules across concurrent tasks, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience followed by valued, but optional, qualifications.
- Must-have: 5+ years of compact (SPICE) RF modeling experience focused on HBT/BJT and RF CMOS devices.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience extracting parameters and validating models against measurements.
- Must-have: Proficiency with SPICE simulators and Verilog-A for model implementation.
- Must-have: Programming skills for model development and automation (MATLAB or Python).
- Must-have: Ability to collaborate across device, process, and circuit teams and to manage multiple technical tasks.
- Nice-to-have: Expert-level RF characterization and circuit-level validation (s-parameters, NF, IP3, IMD).
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with common compact models (BSIM, MEXTRAM, HICUM, MVSG-GAN, ASM) and parameter-extraction tools (ICCAP, BSIMProPlus, MBP).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with EDA tools (Cadence), Spectre simulator, AI/ML for data analysis, and TCAD experience.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (the posting specifies Ph.D./Masters). No alternative-equivalent-experience statement provided.
