R&D Engineering Principal Engineer

Role Summary

The R&D Engineering Principal Engineer will lead the physical implementation of advanced high-speed interface IPs and test-chips, collaborating with cross-functional teams in semiconductor technology. This role involves mentoring engineers, managing projects from RTL to GDSII, and ensuring high standards in design and execution.

Experience Level

Senior; 12+ years of experience in digital or physical design.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Leading the physical implementation of advanced high-speed interface IPs and test-chips.
• Driving project execution for SERDES developments across multiple process nodes.
• Collaborating with front-end, analog, CAD, and product teams for project success.
• Managing and mentoring a small team of engineers.
• Developing timing constraints and design architectures for optimal targets.
• Applying low-power design techniques in mixed-signal IPs.
• Contributing to methodology enhancements and process improvements.

Requirements

Candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

• 12+ years of relevant experience with a proven record of tape-outs.
• Expertise in full design cycle from RTL to GDSII.
• Hands-on experience with advanced FinFET nodes.
• Knowledge of software/scripting languages (Perl, Tcl, Python).
• Solid understanding of analog/digital interface challenges.
• MSEE or BSEE with extensive relevant experience.
• Previous project leadership experience.

Education Requirements

A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 10+ years or a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 12+ years of relevant experience is required.
