Qubit Control Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on physical implementation of qubit control and related high-performance semiconductor blocks within Intel's Corporate Technology Office. Deliver RTL-to-GDS physical designs focused on power, performance, area (PPA) and silicon quality, and collaborate with CAD/methodology and custom IP teams.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include block-level physical implementation, sign-off, and methodology improvements.
- Drive RTL-to-GDS implementation using synthesis and place-and-route tools to meet PPA targets.
- Perform floorplanning, pin/bus placement, power/clock distribution, congestion and timing closure.
- Execute EM/IR analysis, static timing analysis, LVS/DRC verification, and debug violations to achieve sign-off.
- Collaborate with CAD, methodology, and custom IP teams to adopt optimizations and improve yield.
- Define and optimize memory macros and standard cell usage for design efficiency.
- Develop and refine physical design methodologies and automation to improve productivity.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.
- Several years of hands-on physical design experience with demonstrated delivery of product KPIs.
- Experience with synthesis, place-and-route, timing constraints, timing closure, and backend flow closure.
- Proficiency scripting design flows and automation (Python, TCL, Perl).
- Experience debugging functional equivalence verification (FEV) and implementing ECOs; familiarity with RV reports.
- Practical knowledge of chiplet integration and advanced packaging considerations.
- Experience with physical verification tools and sign-off flows (LVS, DRC, EM/IR, timing sign-off).
- Experience applying AI tools to streamline workflows and debugging is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with equivalent industry experience is listed; the posting also allows a Master’s degree with fewer years of experience.
