Quality & Reliability Engineer (NVMQRA SSD)

Role Summary

This role supports new product launch activities and ongoing reliability for datacenter and client SSD products. The engineer coordinates tester setup, validates firmware and test scripts, runs reliability tests, performs first-level electrical failure analysis, and compiles reliability reports.

The position emphasizes AI/automation to improve test efficiency and error reduction, and requires full-time on-site lab work at Penang, Malaysia.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Less than 2 years of technical experience in the semiconductor industry; fresh graduates encouraged.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include test setup, reliability monitoring, failure investigation, and process coordination:

  • Prepare and set up test stations, tester racks and chambers for new product launches and high-volume production.
  • Validate firmware, low-power configurations, and test scripts; confirm THB low-power setup and firmware.
  • Generate and release training materials and conduct training for test operations.
  • Coordinate tester transfer, installation and maintenance with Global Engineering Lab (GEL); sustain preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Plan and optimize ORT test capacity; monitor ORT test status and sampling efficiency.
  • Monitor ongoing/outgoing reliability performance and compile regular reliability reports for customer review.
  • Perform failure traceability, replicate and validate failures, and conduct first-level electrical failure analysis (EFA).
  • Update failure analysis status in JIRA/Confluence, chair FA meetings, coordinate root-cause findings, and define corrective actions.
  • Ensure lab compliance with 6S, ESD and EHS practices; coordinate yearly physical inventory counts.
  • Implement AI and automation projects to increase efficiency and reduce repetitive errors; enable data crunching after ORT pass.
  • Maintain tester connections and ensure data integrity for reliability analyses.

Must-have:

  • Willingness to work full time on-site in a cleanroom lab environment.
  • Basic programming and scripting skills (Python, Linux); familiarity with Copilot Agent and C++ is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and data tools such as Power BI, JMP; experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience or exposure to electrical and physical failure analysis (EFA).
  • Analytical problem-solving, clear communication and presentation skills, and strong teamwork.
  • Ability to lead or participate in AI/automation initiatives to improve test and analysis workflows.

Nice-to-have:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in SSD EFA and reliability testing.
  • Experience with Roo Code/Open Code or similar automation frameworks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical & Electronic, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Computer, Telecommunication, Materials) is specified. Fresh graduates encouraged. No alternative "equivalent experience" language was provided.
