Job Title

Quality and Reliability Engineer - Fab28

Role Summary

The Quality and Reliability Engineer (QRE) will support Fab28 manufacturing operations within Intel Foundry's Quality, Reliability and Labs organization. The role focuses on ensuring process and material quality, performing reliability risk assessments, and enabling product qualification and readiness for production.

The QRE works cross-functionally with factory engineering, technology development, product teams, assembly/test, and FQRL partners to detect and resolve quality/reliability issues, drive continuous improvement, and protect customer deliverables.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Experienced hire). Specific years of experience not stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining and enforcing quality and reliability measures, assessing process and material risks, and supporting new technology introductions into Fab28.

  • Develop, apply, and maintain quality and reliability standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
  • Evaluate materials and process technologies for compliance with product quality and reliability requirements.
  • Specify testing approaches and perform statistical analysis and reliability risk assessments to determine ownership and resolution of non-conforming materials.
  • Standardize product qualification, manufacturing quality systems, and methods; provide feedback on statistical process control in HVM.
  • Define reliability requirements and automated screening methodologies to meet company, customer, and regulatory objectives.
  • Develop acceleration techniques, analytical tools, and quality screens to identify potential issues early.
  • Respond to customer requests and quality events; communicate risks and decisions transparently to stakeholders.
  • Recommend design or process changes to improve system, process, and product reliability.
  • Own fab technology certification and readiness for new technology introductions; support containment and early detection capabilities.
  • Create and support Continuous Improvement Plans (CIP) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for major events.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience necessary to perform the role, plus preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: Experience in process engineering or a related engineering discipline (industry or academic), solid foundation in engineering principles, and strong proficiency with statistical analysis for data interpretation and decision making.
  • Must-have: Practical experience working with semiconductor manufacturing or fab operations and familiarity with reliability risk assessment and disposition decision making.
  • Must-have: Strong cross-functional collaboration, clear verbal and written communication, and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure to protect customers and factory output.
  • Nice-to-have: Deep technology knowledge including inline and end-of-line parametric data, SORT and reliability-based knowledge, and experience developing acceleration techniques or automated screening methods.
  • Nice-to-have: Demonstrated ownership for product quality, systems thinking, creative problem solving, and experience driving CIP/CAPA for major events.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry (Bachelor/MSc/PhD). Degrees were specified in the minimum qualifications.
