QA Software Testing Intern

Role Summary

The QA Software Testing Intern will perform manual and automated testing to verify software quality and reliability for engineering/simulation products. The role works within an on-site Synopsys engineering team in Canonsburg, collaborating with developers to identify, document, and help resolve defects.

This is a 12-week, full-time internship expected to start May/June 2026 and focuses on practical testing experience and test automation development.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Intended for current university students; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include the following:

• Perform interactive (manual) and automated testing of software to validate functionality and reliability.
• Develop new automated tests using internal tools and analyze test results.
• Debug tests, identify new defects, and document defects clearly for developers.
• Investigate existing defects and contribute to continuous improvement of tests and processes.
• Collaborate closely with developers and other team members to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Follow established quality procedures and standards when executing tests.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills and attributes:

• Hands-on experience debugging software or hardware issues is preferred.
• Desire to develop coding skills and aptitude for problem-solving; previous coding experience is beneficial but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong Windows skills; exposure to Linux operating systems is desirable.
• Exposure to or interest in engineering simulation software is a plus.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field); enrolled full-time and returning to university after the internship. Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
