Project Functional Safety Manager
Role Summary
Define and execute the product functional safety lifecycle for automotive projects and ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and internal processes. Coordinate safety activities, produce required safety artifacts, and work with project stakeholders, V&V teams, and assessors to deliver compliant products.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of experience in automotive functional safety management and ISO 26262 deployment.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage functional safety activities across the product lifecycle for assigned projects.
- Define and execute the product safety lifecycle according to ISO 26262 and NXP internal processes.
- Prepare safety work products such as safety plans, safety cases, and tool evaluations.
- Continuously follow up on and report functional safety activities and status.
- Interface with project stakeholders including project managers and verification & validation teams.
- Coordinate with functional safety assessors for assessments and confirmation reviews.
Requirements
Core technical experience and skills required; preferred items listed below.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive functional safety management and ISO 26262 deployment.
- Experience executing the complete safety lifecycle for projects up to ASIL-D.
- Good understanding of hardware and software architecture and development processes.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with safety assessments and audits.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of automotive MCU architectures.
- Experience in semiconductor product development, particularly SEooC.
- Experience in supplier management and communication with customers.
- Familiarity with other standards such as IEC 61508.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
