Job Title
Product Test Engineer (Production)
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and executing production test plans, parametric and reliability testing, and test program development to ensure manufactured components meet electrical and reliability specifications. Works with manufacturing test teams, process and device engineers, and failure analysis to identify and correct production issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates typically have multiple years of hands-on experience in semiconductor testing, device characterization, or production test engineering.
Responsibilities
Key duties include test development, data analysis, and production support.
- Develop and implement production test methods, parametric test plans, and evaluation procedures.
- Create, maintain, and debug test programs for Automated Test Equipment (ATE), including Keysight testers.
- Execute parametric and wafer-level reliability (WLR) tests and analyze results to identify manufacturing issues.
- Develop stress-test algorithms and routines to accelerate and characterize failure mechanisms (e.g., NBTI, PBTI, TDDB, HCI).
- Use statistical methods to analyze variation of transistor parameters across wafers and lots; perform test correlation and data validation.
- Plan parametric test capacity and implement test time reduction strategies.
- Support test area manufacturing teams, process engineering, and process integration with technical solutions to improve yield and uptime.
- Collaborate with failure analysis to link parametric shifts during stress to physical failure modes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience. See Education Requirements for degree details.
- Hands-on experience with production semiconductor testing, parametric testing, or device characterization.
- Programming/scripting experience (examples: C/C++, Python, Perl, C#) and ability to develop/debug ATE test programs.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and using data analysis tools to find statistical significance in electrical data sets.
- Familiarity with ATE platforms and test equipment operation, maintenance, and safety notices.
- Ability to design and implement algorithms for PCD/PC param extraction and advanced stress testing.
- Experience with statistical analysis, test correlation, and translating test data into manufacturing feedback.
- Effective collaborator with device/layout engineers and failure analysis teams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for equipment and test program issues.
Education Requirements
The posting specifies advanced technical degrees: a PhD in Electrical Engineering (with a graduate-level internship involving parametric testing and wafer-level reliability) OR a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (with ~3 years of relevant experience). The job info also lists a Bachelor's degree level. The posting also references graduate internships and specific technical experience in parametric testing, wafer-level reliability, and device physics.
