Product Engineer
Lattice SemiconductorJob Title
Product Engineer
Role Summary
The Product Engineer will develop and execute ATE test programs and characterization plans for semiconductor products, using wafer-level and package-level test platforms and bench setups. The role works with cross-functional teams (applications, design, manufacturing) to resolve product issues and define datasheet parameters.
Based in Manila, the position focuses on test program development, hardware/bench design, data collection and statistical analysis to support product validation and yield improvement.
Experience Level
Entry-level (early career). Candidate should have at least 2 years of individual contributor experience in Product Engineering or silicon validation/characterization.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include test development, characterization, and driving product maturity.
- Develop ATE test and characterization programs for wafer-level and package-level testing.
- Create characterization test plans targeting chip IP functions and features.
- Execute characterization across process, temperature, and voltage conditions on wafer ATE, package ATE, and bench platforms.
- Apply statistical analysis to characterization data to define datasheet parameters and report results.
- Identify and root-cause product marginalities; coordinate closure with cross-functional teams.
- Design and implement test circuits using FPGA fabric and embedded IP.
- Develop bench automation, data-collection scripts, and ATE/bench hardware.
- Plan and execute testing of engineering samples, ensuring timely delivery to stakeholders.
- Analyze and report on test yield and test time; recommend improvements.
- Drive product issues to resolution and support product release activities.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience. Items marked as advantages are nice-to-have.
- Must-have: Minimum 2 years experience as an individual contributor in Product Engineering or silicon validation/characterization.
- Must-have: Practical knowledge of semiconductor devices and test methodologies; experience with wafer sort, package assembly and final test workflows (WAT/etest).
- Must-have: Experience in ATE test program development, integration and debug on Nextest Magnum and Advantest T2K.
- Must-have: Experience with bench hardware and validation tools (oscilloscope, pattern generators, data/timing generators, multimeters) and bench automation.
- Must-have: Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python; familiarity with C++ is useful) and strong Windows/Unix skills.
- Must-have: Familiarity with statistical process control, yield analysis, and statistical analysis tools (e.g. JMP, R).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with programmable logic, RTL design or design verification; knowledge of DFT methodologies (scan, BIST) and fault grading.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with HDLs such as Verilog or VHDL and IC validation automation frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written English; ability to work across cultures and multiple teams; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Physics or a related technical field is required; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
