Product Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for product engineering activities for high-speed and signal-conditioning analog devices, connecting design decisions to customer and manufacturing requirements. Works across design, test, manufacturing, quality, reliability and marketing to bring products from development to production and maintain mature product quality and yield.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects 5+ years of relevant experience in integrated circuit and device failure analysis and related product engineering work.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design verification, failure analysis collaboration, and production support.
- Support development and characterization of analog amplifiers, PGAs, XTRs, buffers and optical networking devices.
- Collaborate with Design, Applications, Test, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability throughout new product development and production release.
- Design bench evaluation PCBs and create characterization programs for lab evaluations.
- Perform evaluation, debug and electrical characterization of integrated circuits to verify product and manufacturing requirements.
- Coordinate with failure analysis (FA) to determine root causes of reliability and qualification failures.
- Support process and package technology development and qualification for new products.
- Work with global manufacturing sites on product quality, yield management, cost reduction, and product spins/derivatives.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills for effective performance in this role.
- Must-have: 5+ years of relevant experience with integrated circuit and device failure analysis.
- Must-have: Solid understanding of analog and digital circuits, their operation and analysis.
- Must-have: Experience performing IC evaluation, debug, and characterization against specifications.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with lab equipment (curve tracers, return loss analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers) and bench validation/characterization PCBs.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with plastic and hermetic package development, IC thermal modeling, or space/A&D device releases.
- Nice-to-have: Programming skills for automation of bench equipment (LabVIEW/Test Stand) and familiarity with C/C++.
- Nice-to-have: Statistical analysis skills for large characterization datasets and setting production test limits.
- Nice-to-have: Strong communication, time management, teamwork, and project delivery skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics is specified as the required degree level.
