Product Development Test Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Product Development Test Engineer
Role Summary
Work on design validation, characterization, and production deployment of integrated RF and silicon products for 5G and related systems in advanced FinFET processes. The team develops test solutions, performs measurements and characterization, and supports production test and yield improvements.
Typical work covers RF, mixed-signal, digital, and ATE-based test development from lab validation through mass-production test implementation.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates typically have relevant industry experience (source indicates >1 year of product development or test validation experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design validation, test development, and production test support:
- Develop and execute validation and characterization plans for RF, mixed-signal, and digital ASICs and modules.
- Operate and debug measurement and ATE equipment to validate device performance across corners and production conditions.
- Design, debug and validate test boards and RF-PCB hardware supporting device bring-up.
- Create and maintain test software and automation (e.g., Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, TestStand, other languages as required).
- Develop cost-effective production test solutions and transfer tests to manufacturing to improve yield and test time.
- Collaborate with design, firmware, and manufacturing teams to integrate test requirements and resolve issues.
- Perform measurements for RF metrics (EVM, ACLR, gain, NF, IP3, phase noise, etc.) and other silicon measurements.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: Practical experience with RF measurements and lab equipment (spectrum/network analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.).
- Must-have: Experience with ATE platforms and production test activities.
- Must-have: Programming or scripting experience for test development (examples in source: Python, C++, Java, Visual Basic, C#, LabVIEW, TestStand).
- Must-have: Background in hardware engineering, circuit design, or related engineering work supporting bring-up and validation.
- Must-have: Experience operating measurement and test equipment and debugging test setups.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of RF-PCB design, FPGA/DSP systems, high-speed interfaces (HSIO/DDR/SerDes), CPU/logic test methodologies, or CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, LNA, mixers, PAs).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field (as stated in the posting).
