Job Title

Product Development Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Test Engineering team responsible for driving testability and manufacturability of integrated circuits from feasibility through high-volume production ramp. The role focuses on post-silicon validation, ATE device characterization, test flow and hardware/software development, yield analysis, and cross-functional coordination with design, fab, assembly, quality, and manufacturing teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No specific years of experience specified.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include developing and validating test solutions, enabling manufacturing readiness, and optimizing production test and yield.

  • Drive testability and manufacturability from component feasibility through production ramp; develop and validate test circuits, flows, and methodologies.
  • Evaluate designs on automatic test equipment (ATE); perform ATE device characterization and use results to define datasheet specifications and yield targets.
  • Collaborate with design and DFx teams to implement DFT/DFD/DFM features and debug functionality and performance issues to root cause.
  • Develop and debug software to translate validation vectors and control complex test equipment; create and validate test hardware for validation and production.
  • Analyze component performance vs. specifications, perform yield analysis, bin-split optimization, and drive test-time reduction to balance cost and quality.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness activities: engineering/customer sample generation, wafer start planning, product qualification strategy, capacity analysis, and site certification.
  • Support production ramp and factory task forces; work with fab, assembly, and test partners to resolve product and process issues.
  • Analyze early customer returns and drive closure of test holes; optimize downstream sort/test content and supply via data analysis (including DLCP and bin-split).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, C++, Perl) and proven debugging/problem-solving ability.
  • Practical experience with automatic test equipment (ATE) and test development for semiconductor devices.
  • Solid understanding of digital and analog circuits, associated test methods, and fault models.
  • Experience analyzing yield, test data, and bin-split to drive manufacturing and test optimizations.
  • Effective cross-functional communication and experience working with design, fab, assembly, and manufacturing teams.

Education Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a BS or MS in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent degree) or equivalent practical experience.
