Product Development Engineer 3

Role Summary

Responsible for enabling new process node startup, qualification, yield, and ramp by directing development teams on process integration and product characterization. Works with Design, Technology Development, Design for Test, and Quality teams to identify and resolve yield and circuit-related issues.

Role includes design verification and validation, electrical failure analysis, statistical data analysis for yield improvement, and use of laboratory engineering equipment. May telecommute part-time; position is based at Boise, ID.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires approximately 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include product characterization, failure analysis, and driving yield improvement projects.

  • Perform electrical failure analysis and bench testing to diagnose product issues.
  • Analyze volume data using statistical tools to identify yield trends and root causes.
  • Identify design marginalities and recommend circuit-level design solutions.
  • Support design verification and validation using CAD tools and simulations.
  • Use in-house engineering equipment for characterization and electrical failure analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (Design, Technology Development, DFT, Quality) to prioritize and resolve yield issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Proven experience performing electrical failure analysis and yield improvement using both data and bench testing.
  • Proficiency with statistical tools for detailed data analysis and root-cause investigation.
  • Ability to identify and recommend solutions for circuit-related problems.
  • Experience using lab engineering equipment for product characterization.
  • Experience with CAD tools and simulations for design verification and validation.
  • Effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional engineering teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required, plus approximately 3 years of relevant experience in the job or a related occupation. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
