Job Title

Process Integration Engineer

Role Summary

Work on process integration for DRAM/Flash semiconductor manufacturing to improve yield, cost, quality, and device performance. The role performs root-cause investigations and failure analysis, drives DOE-based process improvements, monitors trends, and supports technology transfer and sustainment activities.

Position is based in Boise, ID and requires approximately 20% international travel.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires around 3 years of relevant engineering experience (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include process troubleshooting, experimental design, and sustaining production performance.

  • Perform root-cause investigations and failure analysis in time-sensitive manufacturing environments.
  • Design, run, and analyze experiments and DOEs to improve process capability and margin.
  • Drive yield, cost reduction, and quality improvements across modules and technologies.
  • Monitor process trends and maintain line stability using statistical process control.
  • Support technology ramps, transfers, and module ownership including preparation of transfer documents (PRD).
  • Run workshops and support next-generation device tech transfers.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (e.g., Kepner-Tregoe, Fishbone, DMAIC, 8D, model-based).

Requirements

Key technical skills and domain experience required. Education details are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Experience with DRAM or Flash memory processes.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing (FAB) and semiconductor fabrication focusing on yield ramp, cost reduction, and quality.
  • Understanding of semiconductor device physics, transistor operation, scaling limits, and reliability.
  • Knowledge of CMOS processes and device characterization needs.
  • Experience writing and analyzing structured experiments and DOEs.
  • Process integration experience: module ownership, technology ramp, transfer documentation, and sustaining activities.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) skills to maintain and troubleshoot module health.

Education Requirements

Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Electrical, Electronics, or a related field. Alternatively, 36 months (3 years) of experience in the job offered or in an engineering-related occupation may be accepted as equivalent. (Micron also accepts related equivalent practical experience where specified.)
