Principal Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for post-silicon validation of multiple SOC products and delivering validation results against project KPIs. Works within the Silicon Validation team and represents validation needs across global teams.
Lead-level role focused on silicon bring-up, debugging, automation of validation flows, and reducing validation cycle time.
Experience Level
Senior — 10–12 years of experience in post-silicon validation or pre-silicon emulation of digital SOCs.
Responsibilities
The role includes technical leadership, silicon validation and debug, automation, and cross-team coordination.
- Plan and execute post-silicon validation for multiple SOCs in parallel on advanced process nodes.
- Debug silicon issues and drive fixes to meet product release criteria and KPIs.
- Develop, improve, and maintain automated validation setups, testbenches, and scripts.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Interface with Design, Verification, Applications, Product/Test Engineering, and other global stakeholders.
- Document validation activities and present status and results to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise listing of preferred competencies.
- 10–12 years experience in post-silicon validation or pre-silicon emulation of digital SOCs.
- Proven experience validating complex SOCs and key peripherals (clocking, power management, Ethernet, PCIe, SerDes, USB).
- Strong C programming skills and scripting experience (Python).
- Knowledge of microcontroller/microprocessor architectures and instruction sets.
- Embedded firmware development experience on ARM MCUs, Linux, and RTOS platforms; strong ARM programming skills.
- Understanding of RTOS concepts; FreeRTOS experience preferred.
- Experience working with multi-geography, multicultural engineering teams; strong documentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to automate validation processes and use tools (including AI/ML where applicable) to enable code generation and debug.
