Job Title

Principal Test Engineer - Product Development

Role Summary

Design and develop high-performance test solutions on Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for first-silicon verification, characterization, qualification, and manufacturing of precision mixed-signal integrated circuits. Work within the INS ATE Development Sustaining team and collaborate with design, layout, and manufacturing teams to deliver test hardware, firmware/software and transfer production test solutions.

This role focuses on multi-site ATE hardware/software development, test program debug, and production transfer to offshore high-volume manufacturing.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting indicates an experienced hire; the role expects 5+ years of experience in analyzing and debugging analog and digital circuits.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include developing test methodologies and delivering ATE solutions that enable characterization, qualification, wafer probe and final test.

  • Develop test solutions for high-performance analog/mixed-signal ICs on Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Design, develop and debug multi-site test hardware and software for characterization, qualification, wafer probe and production test.
  • Define test methodologies, test plans, test modes, SCAN and IDDq test strategies.
  • Produce test schematics and work with layout engineers to design multi-site test PCBs.
  • Debug test programs and correlate production test results with bench engineering measurements.
  • Transfer and qualify production test solutions at offshore, high-volume manufacturing sites and support manufacturing to maintain yield and quality.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) teams and evaluate new test systems for future applications.
  • Manage project schedules to align with product introduction and release milestones.
  • Travel to support manufacturing and test transfer (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted.

  • 5+ years experience analyzing and debugging analog and digital circuits; strong knowledge of analog and digital device behavior.
  • Proficient programming skills in C/C++ and Visual Basic; experience developing and debugging test programs and test automation.
  • Experience designing multi-site hardware and software solutions for ATE that minimize test cost and maximize performance.
  • Experience with schematic and PCB layout tools such as OrCAD and Cadence Allegro.
  • Familiarity with Cadence toolchain is desirable.
  • Unix operating system knowledge and lab experience with bench-top instrumentation (recommended).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and performing statistical data analysis using Excel or similar tools.
  • Experience documenting and presenting test plans and evaluation reports; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (for example Electronics Engineering) is required; a Master’s degree is a plus. The posting lists degrees and fields explicitly; no certifications or explicit "equivalent experience" language was provided.
