Job Title

Principal Test Engineer

Role Summary

Lead test enablement and capability development for advanced process nodes and advanced packaging within Arm's Silicon Solutions Test Team. Collaborate with IP, SoC design, product and systems teams to plan and execute ATE bring-up, silicon characterization, and production test strategies.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Own test enablement for upcoming silicon projects and drive first-silicon ATE bring-up, reporting progress across the organization.
  • Plan and execute ATE characterization and test strategies, including binning and test flow development.
  • Develop and maintain test method source code (ATPG/Scan, MBIST, Functional, etc.) and pattern conversion flows.
  • Establish test program revision control (SVN, git) and test data capture/correctness/reporting processes.
  • Guide ATE test hardware development with vendors (wafer probe card, loadboard/socket, thermal control interface).
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams during bring-up, characterization, and production release activities.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Expert knowledge of ATE test program development (Advantest 93k preferred) and test method/flow development.
  • Experience with DFT (Scan, MBIST, PHY BIST), silicon fabrication processes, product qualification, and packaging.
  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end projects from architecture through production release.
  • Proven experience in SoC product development, including bring-up, characterization, and production.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proficiency with Unix, C++, Python, SmarTest, SmartRDI.
  • Experience with data analysis tools: Excel, Tableau, JMP, YieldExplorer.
  • Familiarity with IEEE 1149, 1500, 1687, 1838; Streaming Scan Network, scan diagnostics, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Experience testing Arm IP (Cortex CPUs, Mali GPUs, AMBA protocols, CoreLink, CoreSight), 2.5D/3D SiP, and active thermal management.

Education Requirements

University degree or equivalent practical experience in Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering (degree or equivalent experience explicitly stated).
