Job Title

Principal Technical Program Manager (Quantum Manufacturing)

Role Summary

Lead manufacturing program management for Microsoft Quantum's pilot-line to low-volume production effort. Own end-to-end lot lifecycle and the master production schedule, coordinating fabrication, packaging, and cryogenic measurement to deliver reliable, repeatable production.

Hybrid role: 3 days per week in-office in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark. The role balances day-to-day execution with strategic capacity planning between development and production.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Principal). The posting does not specify an exact years-of-experience requirement.

Responsibilities

Drive production execution, capacity planning, and operational rigor for quantum device manufacturing.

  • Own full lot lifecycle from wafer-in to data-out; coordinate fabrication, packaging, cryogenic loading and measurement to ensure seamless handoffs and visibility.
  • Maintain and execute the master production schedule; manage expedites, resolve blockers, and communicate status, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Align fab capacity allocation across production delivery, process development, and technology R&D; plan maintenance windows to minimize impact.
  • Define and maintain production-level KPIs and dashboards (throughput, cycle time, equipment uptime, schedule adherence) and ensure data is accurate and actionable.
  • Partner with quality, yield engineering, and process integration to translate yield improvements into production impact.
  • Coordinate technology transfers, split-lot management, and wafer disposition using a stage-gate framework to qualify production-ready processes.

Requirements

Concise list of must-have and preferred qualifications for success in the role.

Must-have

  • Significant experience in manufacturing, production operations, hardware development, supply chain, or related technical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex cross-functional programs involving engineering and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; proven ability to drive alignment without direct authority.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments and building systems and processes alongside users.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft security and export-control screening requirements, including citizenship or residency verification where required.

Preferred / Nice-to-have

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, fabrication operations, pilot-line or pre-production environments transitioning toward low-volume manufacturing.
  • Track record managing end-to-end production flow across fabrication, packaging, and test; production scheduling, WIP management, and capacity planning in a fab or cleanroom.
  • Experience with MES, ERP, fab scheduling tools, statistical process control (SPC), yield analysis, and cycle-time tracking.
  • Experience defining and implementing stage-gate or manufacturing readiness review frameworks and leading new process introduction (NPI) / tech transfer.
  • Technical fluency in quantum computing, photonics, semiconductor physics, or related deep-tech domains (PhD not required).
  • Experience working across multiple countries/time zones with distributed engineering teams and experience managing technicians or engineers in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven productivity tools and analytical software used to drive production decisions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline is specified. The posting notes a PhD is not required.
